Tulum Xelha
Tulum Xelha
Short history about the Maya archeological site of Tulum Originally, the archeological site of Tulum was called Zama, a Mayan word that means “sunrise”; afterwards, it got its current name, which means “wall” in Mayan language. It was a fortress that reached its greatest splendor by the end of the classic period, between 1000 and 1,200 A.D. Currently it is the only archeological site built overlooking the ocean. Here you will find key constructions, former houses of the city’s inhabitants, and ancient ceremony centers of the Maya civilization.
